A flamenco metronome that improvises.
Currently available on the iTunes app store.
In 2009-2011, together with Jason McGuire "El Rubio," one of the best flamenco guitarists in the USA, I co-developed the flamenco metronome app, Doctor Compás. The distinguishing feature of this app is that it generates on the fly a solid rhythmic section for flamenco music, including sophisticated randomized cajón and palmas (sordas and/or altas) patterns, at any tempo of choice and for every flamenco palo. The randomization (improvisation feature) means that the patterns effectively never repeat exactly due to a combinatorial explosion of possibilities, making it sound hyper-realistic. To date no other flamenco metronome has been developed with such capabilities. I wrote various versions of the app in Java, C, and Objective-C for PC, Android, iPhone / iPad.
Below are some videos of Jason McGuire, Emmy-award winning flamenco dancer Yaelisa, Roberto Granados, and Ramzi using the app. Many others can be found on YouTube.
